Community Involvement

In December 2017 John and Trina Kot wanted to try a different approach to their traditional way of donating around the Christmas season and launched their first "Pay it Forward" Campaign. A campaign that allows for employee involvement. "Pay it Forward" provides $500 to each employee to donate to a cause or charity of their choice! Kot Auto Group believes it is important to support the local community and they want to share as well as inspire their employees to do the same. With Kot Auto Groups dealers all over B.C this means over $60,000 donated to various charities that are near and dear to our employees. Some of these causes and charities have been very impactful to the employees and what has truly inspired John and Trina Kot, to continue the campaign for future years.

In June 2014, Kelowna Hyundai pledged to donate $100,000 to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation for the new Heart and Surgical Centre over 5 years. The Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is in the Okanagan health service area and is one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals. KGH offers high-level, specialty medical care including 24 hour emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic or paramedical services. Every year Kelowna Hyundai participates in Operation 200. The goal is to sell 200 vehicles in the month of May and $100 from each vehicle sold goes towards the donation to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation totaling $20,000 by the end of the month.

Kelowna Hyundai is proud to donate $25,000 to the expansion and re-building of St. Joseph Elementary School. St. Joseph's started in 1939 with a single kindergarten class watched over by the Sisters of Charity. The goal was simple: A faith-based Catholic education with a holistic approach. Phase one has now been completed and they are still raising the remainder of the funds to complete the project.

Alongside the Central Okanagan Bursary and Scholarship Society (COBSS), Kelowna Hyundai provides $6,000 in scholarships every year to 6 secondary schools in Kelowna, helping many Grade 12 graduates find the finances to further their post-secondary education. Kelowna Hyundai started their scholarship program in 2015.

In addition to the $25,000 donated to the expansion of the school, Kelowna Hyundai is excited to participate in the 2nd annual Josh Gorges 4 on 4 Street Hockey Tournament this August. The Hyundai Hawks placed 2nd overall in the tournament last year, and contributed as the title sponsor of the event. The event contributed to $57,000 in donations towards the expansion of St. Joseph Elementary School.

Kelowna Hyundai had the honor of being the hole in one sponsor for the RCMP Honor House annual golf tournament. The RCMP Honor House helps support retired RCMP officers and veterans transition to a life after duty. We look forward to participating in the annual tournament for years to come.

In July 2017, Kelowna Hyundai was a key sponsor in the Chicks with Sticks Golf Tournament locally in Kelowna. We brought a 2017 Elantra on hole #13 for all golfers to get a chance to win the hole in one contest! All donations and money raised from the tournament went towards the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.

Every year Kelowna Hyundai participates in the annual Santa Bus around the Kelowna area helping raise $383,971.69 over the last fourteen years. "Your generosity and the citizens within the Kelowna Regional Transit System have helped us in not only in raising money, but raising the community spirit. With yur assistance, we were able to provide the Salvation Army with the ability to provide over Christmas alone- 560 children and their families with the fixings for a Christmas breakfast and dinner meal, as well as toys for every child in the family.

Kelowna Hyundai was proud to donate to help Immaculata Catholic Regional High School gain another school bus.

In September 2014, Kelowna Hyundai donated to the City of Kelowna Charity Golf Tournament for the United Way and Cops for Kids. The event raised over $2400 for the organizations which both help provide opportunities for children and youth within the community and region.

The Kelowna Rotary Club was established in 1928 and has had involvement in local and international communities.From sporting local projects such as the provision of low income housing within Kelowna, to the international involvement of establishing safe drinking water in Africa, the Rotary Club of Kelowna has been able to be apart of many life changing projects locally and around the world.

The Peachland Rotary Club is among the 1.2 million Rotary Club members worldwide working to help change the world through local, regional, national, and international programs designed to increase literacy, provide safe drinking water and sanitation, and eradicate polio. And these are only a few.Our clb in Peachland B.C. is continually involved in local and regional projects related to community support while contributing to the work and goals of Rotary International.

Kelowna Hyundai was proud to support the Kelowna Secondary Boys Curling Team in 2016. The team competed in Delta, BC, representing the Okanagan in the Provincial Championships. Good jobs guys!

Team Scott is a Kelowna based curling team competing on the World Women's Curling Tour. Team Scott includes: Kelly S., Sasha C., Sarah W., and Jeanna S. They have earned and qualified their way into the Olympic pre-trials beginning November 2013. This year there are two women's spots on the line, and Scott would dearly love to lay claim to one of them. The team won the 2006 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, and defended the title the following year as Team Canada. They also earned the gold medal at the 2007 World Women's Curling Championship.

For 23 years, people across BC and the Yukon have proudly displayed their pin or button at work or school and worn their jeans to help support this fun event. Together, we raise more than $1 million each year in support of BC Children's Hospital Foundation's Excellence in Child Health Fund.

Tim Horton's Camp Day provides the adventure of a lifetime for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to go to camp. In 2014, The Tim Horton Children's Foundation raised $11.8 million dollars, and sent 17,000 children to camp.

Created to support the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, Jeans Day allows schools and workplaces to have a fun break from the ordinary dress code or uniform. In 2014, the 24th annual Jeans Day raised $1,200,480 for BC kids! To learn more about this great cause, visit: https://www.bcchf.ca

The Okanagan Central Small Dog Rescue Society is made up of an enthusiastic bunch of volunteers with a passion for animals. Housing and caring for many different breeds of local, small dogs in need, the OCSDR is trying to find foster homes for all their dogs. The Annual Fathers Day Car Show raises money for charity from the participant fees, the corporate sponsors, T-shirt sales and the silent auction. As well as sales of hotdog, pop, and water from the Boyd CarBQ. Additionally, whenever a vehicle is repaired at Boyd's a portion of the bill goes towards the charity of choice through the Boyd Community Rewards program.

November 2019 the team at Kot Auto Group came together and wanted to launch a campaign that was based around effort and time rather than a monetary donation. There is simplicity in opening one's wallet to help the community but true value comes from donating your time. From request of the employees, Kot Auto Group launched their first "Kot Coat Drive". Each dealership collected coats for the entire month of November. Employees ransacked their closets and asked friends and family members for donations. They even had a response from customers who brought coats in when they came in to purchase or have a service done on their vehicles. 

In June 2014, Maple Ridge Hyundai pledged to donate $10,000 a year to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation. A nonprofit charity dedicated to aiding Ridge Meadows Hospital, Baillie House, McKenney Creek Hospice, Gardenview Pavillion, Home and Community Care, Health Promotion and Prevention, as well as Mental Health and Addiction Service.

Every year Maple Ridge Hyundai participates in Operation 100. The goal is to sell 100 vehicles in the month of May and $100 from each vehicle sold goes towards the donation to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation totaling $10,000 by the end of the month.

Maple Ridge Hyundai provides $3,000 in scholarships every year to 3 secondary schools in the local area of Maple Ridge, helping many Grade 12 graduates find the finances to further their post-secondary education.

Every year, every customer that purchases a vehicle in the month of June has the opportunity to win $10,000 cash at one of our dealerships. We look forward to inviting everyone who entered the draw for a night of entertainment, great food, and excitement! At the end of the night, we do a draw for many prizes but most importantly the grand prize!

The Rotary Club of Haney has supported such worthwhile endeavors as purchasing important equipment for the Ridge Meadows Hospital, and contributing to the North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association. Rotary is a worldwide organization that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards, and helps build good will and peace in the world.
